Evaluation of TE CPC connectors for sub panel connections

I will stick exclusively to crimped machined barrel connections. These CPC connections will be used in conjunction with Deutsche connectors in a sub-panel bulk interconnect. Previously I was going to run wires all the way from the rear and centre fuselage (and wings, via connectors at the wing root) all the way to the panel, while making the panel partly removeable. Now I am considering making a full disconnect just below the panel.

Use DMC AFM8 tool (M22520/2-01)

Use DMC turret TH502 for the pin, appropriately set

Use DMC turret TH501 for the socket, appropriately set

Choice 1: High current power contacts - size 16 - 23 Amps - page 23

18-16 AWG: TE  796964-1 pin, TE  796966-1 socket

14 AWG: TE 193844-1 pin, TE 193846-1 socket

Choice 2: High current power contacts - size 16 - 13 Amps - page 25

28-24 AWG, 0.89-1.40mm ins diameter range: TE 201611-1 pin, TE 201613-1 socket

24-20 AWG, 1.02-1.57mm insulation diameter range: TE 201578-1 pin, TE 201580-1 socket

18-16 AWG, 2.03-2.67mm insulation diameter range: TE 202507-1 pin, TE 202508-1 socket

14 AWG: TE 201570-14 pin, TE 201568-1 socket

Closer fitting insulation diamater range chosen compatible with tefzel /16 (and /18)

Other choices available if no insulation support required

Very expensive pins

CPC Series 2

Only choice: page 32

24-20 AWG Size 20 DM screw machined crimp

Use DMC AFM8 tool (M22520/2-01) with M22520/2-08 positioner

TE 205089-1 (M39029/64-369) pins

TE 205090-1 (M39029/63-368) sockets

These pins are much cheaper - used in all the D-sub connectors as well

If I use this style of connector at all, I will stick with Series 2. Any higher current (size 16) connections I will stick of Deutsche DT or DTP connectors
