Panel connector 1 - HDP20 24-47

All the cables running from the centre and rear fuselage have been sized to be able to run all the way to the panel, mainly the circuit breakers and the Dynon avionics. Originally, I planned to have no bulk interconnects which would happen to make the panel not easily removeable. I have reconsidered this position and will fall in line with the standard practise of having such a midsection connection. If done properly it will be possible to remove the panel completely from the aircraft with a substantial proportion of the avionics. This interconnect will involve a mixture of Deutsche (both DT and DTM) as well as making use of the Dynon network hub.

Use Deutsche HDP20 24-47 connector

Panel mount receptacle should have male contacts

Size 16 contacts - 5 available

Non-green band contacts (16, 18, 20 AWG)

  • Left landing light - 3 x 16AWG downstream
  • Right landing light - 3 x 16 AWG downstream
  • These 6 wires will be consolidated into 5 x 16 AWG (RH pos, LH pos, RH neg, LH neg - to provide for wig-wag and shield) and passed to the interconnect

All contacts used, more are used than strictly needed (the gnds could also be consolidated)

Size 20 contacts - 42 available

Purple-band contacts (16, 18 AWG)

  • Overhead USB - 3 x 18AWG (pos, neg, shld)
  • RH wing USB camera - 3 x 18AWG (pos, neg, shld)
  • Rear fuselage USB camera - 3 x 18AWG (pos, neg, shld)
  • These will be consolidated into 3 x 18AWG (pos, neg, shld) and passed to the interconnect
  • Left nav/strobe - 5 x 18AWG (neg, pos nav, pos strobe, sync, shield)
  • Right nav/strobe - 5 x 18AWG (neg, pos nav, pos strobe, sync, shield)
  • Tail nav/strobe - 5 x 18AWG (neg, pos nav, pos strobe, sync, shield)
  • These will be consolidated into 4 x 18AWG (neg, pos nav, pos strobe, shield) and passed to the interconnect. The sync lines will be joined but not passed to the interconnect

Standard contacts (20, 22 AWG)

  • Pitot heat detect signal (20 AWG) gold
  • Flap power wires - 2 x 20AWG (pos, neg) gold
  • Flap switch wires - 2 x 22AWG
  • Airswitch wire into flap controller - 1 x 22 AWG
  • ground for flap switch and airswitch - 1 x 20AWG
  • ADSB In - 4 x 22 AWG (pos, neg, serial rx, serial tx) - gold
  • GPS2020 - 4 x 22 AWG (pos, neg, serial rx, serial tx) - gold
  • ELT - 5 x 20AWG (4 wires + shield) - gold
  • Overhead lighting - 3 x 22AWG (pos red, pos white, gnd) gold
  • Flap potentiometer 4 x 22(or 20) AWG shielded tefzel (top, wiper, bottom, shield) - 3 gold
  • Trim actuator - 6 x 22AWG (5 wires + shield) - gold
  • regulator charge light wire (L) - 1 wire 20-22 AWG (high) (gold)

Total size 20 interconnect wires: 3 (usb) + 4 (nav, strobes) + 1 (pitot heat detect ) + 2 (flap power) + 4 (flap control, airswitch input and gnd) + 4 (ADSB In) + 4 (GPS2020) + 5 (ELT) + 3 (lighting)+ 4 (flap pot) + 6 (trim) + 1 (reg charge light) = 41 wires
