EMS220 loom
I have elected to have the EMS220 mounted on the panel, located in the cradle which also holds the ADAHRS and the EFIS, with its backup battery. Consequently, the cable running to the DB25 and DB37 connectors have to have a sufficient extension to reach the panel, even when the latter is partially withdrawn. The alternative is to mount the EMS220 on the sub panel. In this case only a DB9 network cable would have to be run from the panel to interface with the EMS220. All the sensor wiring to the EMS220 would be fastened more completely to the sub panel, etc. The reason for choosing the former approach is it gives much more access to the quite large amount of wiring associated with the DB37 connector in particular, including consolidation butt-splices, resistors, and wires running to both the firewall forward region and the midsection interconnect. With the latter scheme, owing to the cables being shorter, the access would be much reduced once the dashboard is in place .
