Panel connector 3 - HDP20 24-35

Two multipole Deutsche connectors are planned to connect the panel to the centre and rear fuselage. These connectors are mounted just below the panel. A third connector is now planned to complete the connectivity to the firewall forward area. In fact connections can be shared between the three connectors

List of connections that are to be bought from the firewall

The following could be achieved with 24-35 connector (3 x size 16 + 32 size 20)

Use Deutsche HDP20 24-35 connector

This connector should have male contacts in the receptacle

Size 20 contacts - 32 available

Standard nickel contacts (20, 22 AWG)

  • Fuel flow meter - 3 wires (not sure what the cut-off green wire is) - 20-22 AWG (panel mount should be male)
  • Manifold pressure gauge - 3 wires - 20-22 AWG (panel mount should be male)
  • oil pressure 3 wires (Rotax P/N 956413) - 3 wires 20 AWG
  • Fuel pressure gauge - 3 wires - 20-22 AWG (panel mount should be male)
  • consolidate gnd and +5V so 5 wires in all
  • starter solenoid - 2 wires 20-22 AWG (panel mount should be male)

Standard gold contacts (20, 22 AWG)

  • 4 x EGT sensors - 8 wires - 20-22 AWG (passive) - gold contacts
  • shunt sense - 2 wires - 20-22 AWG (panel mount ideally should be female, but could be male on account of the 1A fuses) - gold contacts

Purple-band nickel contacts (16, 18 AWG)

  • Fuel pump - 2 wires - 16 AWG (panel mount should be male)
  • magneto grounding wires - 3 wires 2x 18 AWG + shield (panel mount ideally should be female, plug only grounds, but could be male on account of the limited flow if shorted to ground)
  • tachometer - 2 wires 18 AWG

27 size 20 wires in all, 32 available.

Size 16 contacts - 3 available

Non-green band contacts (16, 18AWG)

  • Left taxi light - 3 x 16AWG
  • Right taxi light - 3 x 16AWG
  • These will be consolidated into 3 x 16 AWG (pos, neg, shld) and passed to the interconnect

3 size 16 wires in all, 3 available.

Grounds for each attachment are assumed to be returned to the panel grounding block

UPDATE 250620:

This connector is eliminated

The EMS220 sensor and thermocouple input are accessed via DB25 and DB37 connectors, these connectors will be routed directly to the firewall forward area. The midsection interconnect will be bypassed. To enable this connector to be eliminated, any lines not associated with the sensors or thermocouples need to be moved to the Connector 1 or 2 as these will still need to be routed though the midsection interconnect

These include

Non-green band contacts (16, 18AWG)

  • Left taxi light - 3 x 16AWG
  • Right taxi light - 3 x 16AWG
  • These will be consolidated into 3 x 16 AWG (pos, neg, shld) and passed to the interconnect

Standard nickel contacts (20, 22 AWG)

  • starter solenoid - 2 wires 20-22 AWG (panel mount should be male)

The above lines will be distributed between connectors 1 and 2

The following lines will now be routed from the firewall forward directly to the EMS220

  • 4 x EGT sensors - 8 wires - 20-22 AWG (passive) - gold contacts
  • shunt sense - 2 wires - 20-22 AWG (panel mount ideally should be female, but could be male on account of the 1A fuses) - gold contacts
  • tachometer - 2 wires 18 AWG

Including the following signals moved from connector 2

  • LH fuel sender - 2 x 20AWG (active, gnd)
  • RH fuel sender - 2 x 20AWG (active, gnd)
  • Consoldated into 3 wires (LH, RH, gnd) 3 x 20 AWG
  • oil temperature (Rotax P/N 965531) - 1 wire 18 AWG
  • coolant temperature 1 (Rotax P/N 965531) - 1 wire 18 AWG
  • coolant temperature 2 (Rotax P/N 965531) - 1 wire 18 AWG
