Flaps Dec 1 2025

Assembly of the left flap has started! Got the flap hinge assemblies riveted together. Also riveted the ribs to the spar. Had one rivet that folded over and when drilling it out realized that the hole was oversized and needed to be upsized. Drilled it from a #30 to a #12 and put in a AN3 bolt with a lock nut. Sent an email over to vans builder support to make sure that this was acceptable and received the blessing from Vans about a day later that this is perfectly acceptable and likely stronger than the rivet. The bolt was torqued and torque stripe was added, even though i'm not sure it's possible to see the torque stripe to inspect in the future, even with a boroscope.
