Carpet, Seats, Harnesses Installed
Over a couple of days I got all the interior installed. I first installed the crotch straps under the floor. By deleting a couple non-structural floor screws in the strap clamping mechanism it made the crotch straps far easier to adjust for different size passengers without sacrificing structural integrity. The carpet and seats were done by Classic Aero Designs and I was very pleased with the results. The fit and finish of the carpet was clean and professional looking. It didn't come cheap. But it was worth it. The carpet is installed in sections and held in place with strips of Velcro tape underneath. I decided for now to skip side panels and armrests to save on weight and complexity. At a later date I can always order them from Classic Aero. After the carpeting I installed the rest of my 5-point Crow harnesses which went in easily. The stick boots were last. Classic Aero had prefabricated the stick boots to the attach brackets which saved me a build step. The 3 retaining screws on each bracket are held in place with plastic retaining washers underneath. This is critical because dropping a screw down the stick well would create a lot of pain to retrieve. Then it was time to get the seats in. My electric heat harnesses all worked out nicely and are well hidden from view. Both seat heaters tested fine after install. Overall, it was very satisfying to get the interior in and the dramatic change it made to the cockpit.
